Why Are Sales Professionals Caught In A Messed-Up Paradigm?
Three out of five respondents say that salespeople are underappreciated. While the majority (91%) of respondents consider themselves to be a salesperson, this shows that many people feel underappreciated.
Sales Reps Have Done A Good Job Of Selling During The Pandemic.
Despite the Pandemic's impact on the economy, only 4% of respondents became unemployed in the last year. In addition to this, 59% believe they had greater sales success in 2020 when compared to 2019.
This Industry Is Showing Heaps Of Growth, But Remote Working Poses A Risk.
Over the past year, where people work has shifted in a significant way. Where 60% of respondents report working remotely, 41% say they still work in an office.
How LinkedIn Is Adapting To A Changing Career Landscape
Despite a move to remote working, salespeople are still effective in their work. Indeed, those who work from home are only 5% less likely to have hit their annual sales goal in 2020 or their regular sales quota.
The majority of salespeople believe that they, too, will have a career-boosting breakthrough in 2020. Many of these people expect to have double the sales in 2020, and 81% believe they will make more money this year.
Why Lead Generation Is Still A Top Challenge
A big challenge for salespeople is finding prospects and leads. For example, over half of the salespeople (51%) struggle to find leads every day or even sometimes. Nearly half (53%) of respondents say that they honed their sales skills while on the job.
Respondents in a recent study stated that soft skills are highly valued, and 88% of them are learning these skills. These skills include personality development, communication, and creativity.
Soft skills can have a direct correlation with hitting sales quota. People who work on their soft skills are 10% more likely to always hit their sales quota than people who don't.
